 Within this project Salva has explored the way that ‘Spinsters’ are represented within popular culture. She has been inspired by the difference in connotations between ‘Spinster’ and ‘Batchelor’although they both represent the same status. Salva used a dating website to build her character using narratives and basing Dawn around various women. Salva created her own persona on the dating website and using matches sent to her to find my perfect modern spinster. By using logical extremes Salva aims

to expose the fact that popular culture is still reinforcing stereotypes of unmarried middle aged women.
